First Trip- Alyssa Lengtat

Hi my names Alyssa and I’m a junior here at Davis Highschool.  I’ve always enjoyed spending time outdoors in nature and am looking forward to experiencing hands on research. Not only is this internship a good opportunity to get more hands on experience in research, it’ll teach me more about monarchs and their relationship with the Davis milkweed habitat.

I walked along the ditch for a few minutes, checking out the tagged milkweed plants. Some milkweeds weren’t present at their marked site, where as others were enclosed in a paper protector sleeve. I peered into a few of the paper sleeves and not only saw cobwebs but wasps as well. There were some aphids here and there, but mostly wasps. I’m looking forward to spending more time at the levee and hope to see lots of monarch eggs and caterpillars.
