June 2 It was a sizzling Friday afternoon. The sun was almost directly overhead, but slightly offset given that it was 3 pm. Littered around the thriving milkweeds was dry grass. The bright green milkweeds stood out against the brittle hay-looking grass, which made data collection easier. We walked on, hearing the sound of crunching grass when, sadly, we discovered a plant that had been mowed down in the past. The good news is that the plant proved to be a trooper and was growing healthily after it had been chopped down. Data collection otherwise went smoothly. We also witnessed two black beetles that glimmered blue in the sun on plant 267.
