This week I went down to the Ditch early Sunday evening. It was about 85 degrees and a cool breeze was blowing. My dog, Daisy, and she accompanied me as I surveyed the plants. Our section of plants, 345-369, consisted of varying levels of growth. There were a couple that were not emerged, some that had many stems but were not that tall, some that had few stems that were very tall, and some that were tall and had a lot of stems. I noticed many umbels, many more than I had seen in any week before. There was no water flowing out of the pipes from the agricultural fields, but there was standing water in the ditch from the agricultural fields. I noticed that there were more plants growing and flourishing around where the standing water was. Finally, there was quite a bit of trash around plant 352.
