A Different Find

Today I went out with Salman and Sandy to study plants 199 to 229 in the northeastern most corner of the research area. We only managed to find some caterpillar eggs -and a small milkweed beetle crawling among the flowers of a milkweed’s umbels. None of us had seen one before, so we weren’t really sure what we were looking at until we looked in up in the insect field guide.

A gentle breeze blew over the milkweed keeping the cool air coming this morning. We certainly didn’t miss last week, when highs were in the 100s. The high today was about 85 degrees Fahrenheit, giving us the needed relief of a sweltering summer.
